The Saratoga Library has introduced ‘Redwood Romp,’ a new interactive educational playground designed to foster early literacy skills in young children aged 10 and below. Named the first Storybook Children's Play Space in the Santa Clara County Library District, it emphasizes playful learning environments that stimulate literacy through engaging activities, including seek-and-find games and decision-making exercises. County librarian Jennifer Weeks believes these spaces are essential for children to thrive academically, with various features aimed at captivating children’s imaginations and development. Overall, the initiative is part of a broader commitment to equip children for success in their educational journeys.
Children learn through play, Weeks said, so the play space was designed to "provide play-based learning opportunities in joyful and beautiful environments."
We want all children in the county to thrive and walk into kindergarten ready to be those successful learners," said county librarian Jennifer Weeks.
