Petaluma officials question legality of eviction notices sent to 71 mobile home park residents
Briefly

Residents of Little Woods Mobile Home Villa in Petaluma are facing eviction with notices to vacate by next year. The community, home to many vulnerable families, is troubled by the closure of the park which has been a longstanding residence for over 70 families. City officials have stepped in to investigate the legality of the evictions amid claims by Harmony Communities, the property owners, that new regulations have made operations unsustainable. Many residents share their distress and the fear of losing their homes.
"Feel very sad. I've lived here for 14 years. Everything that happened now is super sad, not just for me but for everybody," said Tony Altamirano.
"There's a lot of migrant families, single moms, families, seniors and people with disabilities and fixed income, a minority group as a whole," Cruz said.
"The City rent control ordinance caps rent increases at 70% of CPI and does not allow any increase on turnover, making it impossible for us to sustain operations," said Nick Ubaldi from Harmony Communities.
