The incident occurred on December 11, 2025, when the man, experiencing mental health issues, stabbed a family member before barricading himself in a bathroom. Police attempted to negotiate but ultimately forced entry, leading to the officer's use of lethal force. The SIU concluded there was no basis for criminal charges against the officer involved.
