Prior to the incident, the district already faced a $37 million budget deficit. The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of Edison, linking the utility's power lines to the fire that devastated schools and the Altadena community. The district aims to recoup losses to support students and maintain educational standards amidst ongoing crisis.
"The destruction of multiple schools and educational facilities has created an immense burden on students, families, and the entire educational community," John Fiske, attorney.
"The Eaton fire has been heartbreaking for the Altadena community. We are reviewing this lawsuit and will respond through the legal process," said Diane Castro.
