Mother of baby Emmanuel Haro, who claimed he had been kidnapped, pleads guilty in his death

Rebecca Renee Haro, 42, pleaded guilty to felony child abuse causing great bodily injury to a child under age 5 with an involuntary manslaughter enhancement and was found guilty as an accessory after the fact. She received a 12 years and eight months state prison sentence under a plea agreement. Her husband, Jake Haro, 33, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years to life for murdering their infant and received an additional 180-day sentence for filing a false police report. Emmanuel’s alleged kidnapping claim followed an Aug. 14 Yucaipa parking lot attack, but investigators arrested the couple about a week later after concluding the child was likely dead and their story was fabricated. Authorities also removed another 2-year-old child from the couple’s custody.
