Horror as suspect who killed bride-to-be in brutal bus stop hit-and-run crash is unmasked as local notable

A local health official, Assmaa Elayyat, 41, has been identified as the suspect in an alleged hit-and-run that killed 27-year-old Katie Osorio at a San Diego bus stop. Osorio was struck by an Infiniti G35 last Saturday near National Avenue and 35th Street. She was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries. Osorio worked toward a nursing program and was planning her wedding. Elayyat is accused of multiple hit-and-run charges, including vehicular manslaughter, and posted bond after being booked. She is expected to be arraigned on June 1, and it is unclear whether she remains employed by the county.
