Joe Wingert has been appointed as the new head coach for the Danville Mustangs football team, taking over from Johnny Millard after three seasons. Wingert expresses enthusiasm for the role, aiming to leave his mark on the program which has faced three consecutive losing seasons. With 18 years of coaching experience, he plans to emphasize competitiveness and a strong focus on fitness. Wingert, who previously assisted under longtime coach Craig Bergman, is determined to help the Mustangs compete effectively against rivals and succeed in the North Coast Section playoffs.
It feels so great to have this opportunity, and to be able to put my own stamp on it. I was so excited that I went on a five mile walk.
We might be a little bit smaller than last year, but we're going to have great competitive attitude and go out there and fight, and execute what is being taught.
You look up and it's De La Salle, Pittsburg and San Ramon that run the NCS, and we have got to start executing that stuff to be able to compete with those guys.
