Briefly

Epic Games reached a $520 million settlement with the FTC in 2022 for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting information from under-13 players without parental consent and for deceptive in-game purchase practices. Refunds will be provided through PayPal or checks to those affected between January 2017 to September 2022, though previous claimants are excluded. Epic has recently had success in other legal battles, notably with Apple.
