Richard Mansell, a 39-year-old player for Gloucester City AFC, shares a historic moment with his 16-year-old daughter Imogen as they become the first father-daughter duo to represent their football club at senior levels. Richard, who debuted 20 years ago, expressed pride in his daughter's skills, noting she plays better than he did at her age. Imogen appreciates her father's presence and guidance, taking elements from his coaching to enhance her game, marking a proud milestone for the club in celebrating family legacy.
Richard Mansell said, "Gloucester have had father and son duos that have played for the team, but as far as I know we're the first father and daughter to play at senior level, so it's quite an honour really."
Imogen Mansell described her relationship with her dad during games, saying, "If I need assistance I know that I can turn to the side and he'll be there supporting me, no matter what."
Richard expressed pride in his daughter's skills, stating, "I'm immensely proud of her. She's definitely better with both her feet than what I was at her age."
A Gloucester City spokesperson stated, "It's a proud moment for the club to recognise Richard and Imogen as our first ever father and daughter to represent the senior men's and women's sides."
