The Bellarmine boys soccer team, historically a dominating presence in the Central Coast Section (CCS), has rebounded significantly after a disappointing previous season. With a decisive 2-0 victory over Westmont, the team has earned a spot in the CCS Division I finals, showcasing a blend of talent and teamwork. Coach Conor Salcido emphasized the team's goals to win championships and noted the importance of their solid defense and coachable players. As they prepare for their final match at Santa Clara University, the team exudes confidence and camaraderie, which could lead them to further success.
When we made the team, we set out all of our goals... Win WCAL, win CCS and win NorCals. The fact that we're one game away from two of those three is pretty awesome.
A lot of our guys, this is their first CCS experience... Nerves are natural. Seeing a game out, especially against a well-coached Westmont team, is just tough.
The fact that we could see out a shutout against Westmont... when you have a defense you can trust, it just helps your offense play free.
I love these seniors. I really do... They're a solid group. This is a fun group to coach, because when you ask them to do something, they do it.
