Bay Area residents scammed by site impersonating Box Appliance repair company
Briefly

A Bay Area appliance repair company, Box Appliance, faces impersonation by fraudulent entities siphoning off customers. Ben Phillips experienced this first-hand when an impersonator came to fix his Sub-Zero refrigerator, which ultimately remained unfixed after costing him nearly $4,000. Box Appliance confirmed the existence of these impostors, who utilize similar domain names and ads to exploit customers searching online. Many clients, like Phillips, are left confused and upset, as the actual company struggles to deal with the fallout of these scams that mirror their branding.
It's really hard explaining to these customers that they were swindled, basically," said Stephanie Chapman, Box Appliance customer service manager.
I went back online and I go, oh there's two Box Appliances, I go, I've been taken here," said Phillips.
My technicians all show up in vans with Sub-Zero logos on them, Box Appliance," said Bergo.
