Raymond Tovar, a 40-year-old from Alamo, has been charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with minors through an online sting operation conducted by authorities in Contra Costa County. After already having an arrest warrant in Iowa for similar offenses involving a purported 14-year-old girl, Tovar communicated online with an undercover detective posing as a 13-year-old girl. He sent inappropriate messages, requested explicit pictures, and offered to arrange a meeting, leading to his arrest and pending court proceedings.
Tovar allegedly described various sexual acts he wanted to do with the 13-year-old, and offered to arrange transportation to meet her.
This time, the 13-year-old girl was really a sheriff's detective in Contra Costa, highlighting the effectiveness of the sting operation.
