SF Oasis brings back 'Fresh Prince'- and yes, there's a Carlton dance
Briefly

'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' returns to SF Oasis, capturing the essence of the original show with a twist of camp and drag. The production thrives on the nostalgia of Gen Xers and Millennials, showcasing vibrant performances. Major Hammy plays a charismatic Will while Mudd brings a neurotic energy to Carlton. The show reflects on the importance of including Black performers, celebrating its cultural impact since the first airing. Director Snaxx expresses hopes that the iconic memories of the show remain separate from any negative modern perceptions.
The show bursts with energy, from Major Hammy's charismatic Will to Mudd's neurotic Carlton. The lip-syncs, the over-the-top physical comedy, and the perfectly timed '90s references make it feel like stepping into a time machine.
It was important to me to not only introduce a new show that was deeply nostalgic for me, but a show that featured Black performers.
The thing about TV shows is they're so 'of a time,' and sometimes the material (or the actors) age poorly. But what the show means to me is based on the fondness of that era.
