Jeff Bridges has announced the release of an album titled 'Slow Magic, 1977-1978', featuring never-before-heard music created with friends in the late 1970s. Set to release for Record Store Day, the album includes 11 previously unreleased tracks originating from a single cassette tape. The excitement is palpable as Bridges reflects on this long-lost music, with physical copies featuring a booklet of notes and archival photographs. This project sees collaborations with notable musicians and emphasizes the bonds of friendship that fueled the creative process.
"Pretty wild that this thing that happened around 50 years ago wants to bloom. I guess weirdness is what's happening these days. You never can tell what's gonna happen."
The sessions were overseen by songwriter and orchestrator Ken Lauber, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defined these recordings made among friends.
Physical editions of Slow Magic will include liner notes by author Sam Sweet, including a new interview with Bridges and never-before-seen archival photos.
Bridges jammed and recorded with a rotating cast of friends in the 1970s, many of whom later had successful careers in film and television.
