The Siskiyou Music Project is offering a series of jazz concerts this spring and summer, featuring renowned guitarists. The season opens on May 25 at Grizzly Peak Winery with Mimi Fox, a celebrated Bay Area jazz guitarist known for her international performances. This is followed by the Marcos Silva Quintet on June 29 and Derek Gripper on July 9. The 22nd season began successfully with the Affinity Trio on April 26. Artistic director Ed Dunsavage emphasizes the return of Fox, highlighting her deep history and contributions to jazz music.
Dunsavage has a long history with the first artist in the vineyard series, Mimi Fox, a Bay Area jazz guitarist. "I was her manager for 15 years," he said. "I met her when I was booking music for the Mark Antony Hotel (now Ashland Springs) in the 1990s."
It was a great way to kick off the season," said Ed Dunsavage, Siskiyou Music Project's artistic director.
Fox plays with a profundity that only results from a lifetime of commitment and total immersion in one's art. A quote from Guitar Player Magazine.
Mimi Fox is known internationally for her work as a player, composer, and recording artist, having headlined major festivals and concert venues globally.
