Taiko, the traditional Japanese drumming, has a rich history spanning thousands of years, utilized in rituals, battle scenarios, and entertainment. The Stanford Taiko group, formed in 1995, organizes the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational Concert to foster appreciation for taiko within the academic and wider communities. This event showcases over 180 talented players, featuring ensembles like Stanford Taiko and San Jose Taiko, celebrating the vibrant art form and promoting cultural exchange and understanding among attendees.
