The EPA, state Attorney General, and SF Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board filed a lawsuit against San Francisco for allowing 1.8 billion gallons of untreated sewage to flow annually into the Bay and Pacific Ocean.
The lawsuit alleges that the city failed to operate its stormwater-sewer systems and sewage treatment plants in compliance with the law, increasing the risk of the public coming into contact with untreated sewage.
