Marc Nicholson, the founder of 1880, envisioned a space dedicated to innovating connections: "I felt there was room in the market for a place where investors, creators, and entrepreneurial minds could gather for business and social life." This vision culminated in the expansion of 1880 into Hong Kong, aiming to foster a community that celebrates ideas and nurtures professional and personal relationships.
The design of the new 1880 Hong Kong location, crafted by Patrick Ho of AvroKO's Bangkok Studio, draws heavily from the local history, particularly the industrial legacy of the Taikoo sugar refinery. Ho states, 'We reinterpret this legacy with contemporary design elements to create a unique environment that resonates with both local culture and modern elegance,' enhancing the exclusivity and allure of the club.
At the heart of 1880 Hong Kong is the multi-functional 1880 SOCIAL, designed for a blend of work and leisure. This innovative concept provides extensive culinary options, including Southeast Asian cuisine at Hoi Polloi and fine dining at Té Bo, creating an inviting atmosphere for members to enjoy networking in a timely manner while engaging with diverse culinary traditions.
