Trans man claims restaurant staff 'barricaded' toilet to stop him using it
Briefly

Zee Pepper, a trans customer at Melbourne's Soho Restaurant and Bar, faced hostility when attempting to use the unisex toilet. After being confronted by a staff member who aggressively demanded he use the male facilities due to his gender identity, Pepper expressed his discomfort and right to the unisex option. The situation escalated when the staff member barricaded the toilet door, leaving Pepper feeling threatened. This experience, shared on social media, emphasizes the urgent need to address discriminatory behaviors, particularly in welcoming spaces during Pride month.
I quietly and politely said to him that I am trans and don't feel safe using the male toilets at this time, and that I have a right to use the unisex toilet.
This sort of behaviour and these experiences need to be called out. Whilst I'm aware I was attempting to use the unisex accessibility toilet... he should've just allowed me to quickly use it.
