In his new Hulu comedy series 'Deli Boys', Tan France takes on his first scripted acting role as Zubair, a South London gang leader. The series showcases Pakistani talent and features the journey of two brothers uncovering their father's criminal past. France highlights the stark contrast between scripted acting and his reality TV persona, expressing excitement about the opportunity to portray a queer character in a traditionally masculine role, thus breaking stereotypes and enriching representation in media.
It does not compare in any way. It's so jarringly different... I can't even articulate how wildly different these experiences are.
I love that we have a queer man who's in this traditionally masculine and morally gray role.
The series is one of the few pieces of media to heavily spotlight Pakistani talent.
I'm excited to showcase my acting skills, as the role marks a shift in the public persona I usually portray.
