Star Power: How Rogue Theater found its voice at Ashland's Grizzly Peak Winery * Oregon ArtsWatch
Briefly

Rogue Theater Company, established by Jessica Sage, originally sprang from a single production in 2019. Disappointed by rejections from theaters for her work 'Fragments', she chose to self-produce, leading to the company’s evolution. With community backing, she navigated the challenges of starting a theater from scratch, financing its initial years and collaborating with talented artists. The company aims to provide a platform for profound storytelling, showcasing challenging material in southern Oregon, eventually securing a more suitable venue at Grizzly Peak Winery for future performances.
"I thought, 'You know what? I'll just produce it myself. How hard can that be?' - wryly adding, 'Cue the laughter.'"
"Starting RTC from scratch was both exhilarating and, honestly, overwhelming," she said. "Without infrastructure or a roadmap, I personally financed the company for the first two years."
