New Colorado Laws Could Set National Standard for Trans Protections
Briefly

As Trans Day of Visibility approaches, Colorado legislators are putting forth two significant bills to enhance protections for transgender individuals. House Bill 25-1309, sponsored by Rep. Brianna Titone, seeks to prevent health insurance companies from limiting access to medically necessary gender-affirming care. Additionally, removing testosterone from prescription monitoring aims to respect privacy and reduce scrutiny. House Bill 25-1312, known as the Kelly Loving Act, proposes broader protections for transgender rights in education and public accommodation, reflecting a commitment to support and empower the trans community amidst rising discrimination and violence.
Transgender Coloradans are part of the fabric of our communities. They are parents, students, care givers, faith leaders and neighbors. They experience elevated levels of poverty, discrimination and violence.
This bill expands protections for trans workers, parents, students, and children in Colorado, mandating essential reforms within educational institutions and public spaces.
