Nicole Steward, a social worker from Milpitas Unified School District, was honored during a Black History Month celebration for her commitment to equity and trauma-informed practices in social services and education. The event, hosted by Assemblymember Alex Lee, recognized several influential leaders, including principals and nonprofit founders, for their contributions to supporting diverse communities. Lee emphasized the importance of these leaders' work in addressing racial and health inequities while advocating for youth, disabilities, and the Black community in Santa Clara County.
"Nicole is dedicated to meeting the need for an equity-based, trauma-informed lens in the worlds of social services and education to better help us understand the needs of those we serve."
