Federally Qualified Health Centers offer services regardless of clients' ability to pay."
"Donald Trump issued an executive order in January directing federal health agencies to cease funding gender-affirming care for those under 19. "Earlier this fall, the Health Resources and Services Administration said stopping medical and surgical gender-affirming care for adolescents was a priority for the agency," the Globe reports. Fenway Health will stop offering hormones and puberty blockers to transgender patients under 19 to comply with Health Resources and Services Administration rules and retain its Federally Qualified Health Center designation. Losing FQHC status would end federal funding and jeopardize the clinic's ability to provide services regardless of ability to pay. An executive order from President Donald Trump directed federal health agencies to cease funding gender-affirming care for those under 19, and HRSA has prioritized stopping medical and surgical gender-affirming care for adolescents. Fenway Health will assist patients in finding other providers while many facilities nationwide have already reduced or ceased such care.
