Easter in the park proved again why San Francisco is the country's queer heart
Briefly

Easter 2025 in Dolores Park was a vibrant celebration of queer identity and community. The event, known as Hunky Jesus, emphasized solidarity with the trans community facing political adversity. Sister Roma proudly stated the theme, "No Easter without the T." The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence used the celebration to counteract political attacks against the trans community. Speeches by figures like State Senator Scott Wiener highlighted the event's significance, while a collective call to unleash joy resonated among attendees, marking it as one of San Francisco's most meaningful traditions.
"I am really proud of our theme this year," Sister Roma told me. "No Easter without the T. It's to show our solidarity with the trans community, which is under brutal attack right now."
"The transgender community has been at the forefront of queer liberation," added Roma. "From the Compton's Cafeteria riots to Stonewall - there is no LGB without the T."
"Rainbow energy is brighter than life itself," proclaimed Sister Shelita Corndog during the opening prayer. "Free stolen immigrants and all of us who Trump would disappear."
"I love this event because this represents everything they hate!" declared out gay State Senator Scott Wiener.
