Steroid usage has increased within the LGBTQ+ community, with a significant percentage of gay and bisexual men reported to be using them to adhere to society's male beauty standards.
Research showed that 5.2% of gay and bisexual men in Australia, as well as 21.6% of gay and bi individuals in San Francisco's Castro District, admitted to using steroids.
"Most gay men are humiliated by cultural standards of masculinity," mentioned psychotherapist Adam Blum of Gay Therapy Center, pointing out the pressure to conform to societal norms.
