Andry Hernandez Romero's family desperate for word on gay asylum-seeker who Trump vanished over 100 days ago
Briefly

As Pride Month concludes, Andry Hernández Romero's family is seeking answers regarding his whereabouts after he was sent to El Salvador's CECOT prison over 100 days ago. The 31-year-old sought asylum in the U.S. to escape anti-LGBTQ+ violence but was deported under controversial policies of the Trump administration that invoked the Alien Enemies Act. His attorneys report no contact with him since the deportation. The situation has ignited protests, with advocates claiming he is in a severe human rights violation state in El Salvador's prison system.
It's been 105 days since over 200 men, including Andry, were disappeared from the United States to El Salvador and to CECOT. Immigration attorneys have not been able to have any contact with Andry, his family has not been able to see him and they have not been able to speak with him directly since they were sent there.
He never had due process. He was detained from the moment he showed up for his asylum appointment.
We believe at this moment that he sits in a torture prison, a gulag in El Salvador.
Officials accused him of gang ties based on crown tattoos above the names of his parents, though his attorneys say he has no criminal record.
