Briefly

More than 90 Ukrainian deportees are held in a cramped Georgian border facility, unable to enter Ukraine due to the war and Georgia's refusal based on criminal backgrounds. They are confined in a damp basement for nearly two months, only allowed outside to use the toilet under guard. Many are former prisoners from Russia, while others face deportation due to immigration issues. Their dire conditions prompted a protest, with reports of self-harm and a lack of medical attention for vulnerable individuals among them.
In a damp, crowded basement at the southern entrance of the Dariala Gorge, more than 90 Ukrainian deportees from Russia are being held. They cannot cross the border directly from Russia to Ukraine due to the war, and Georgia refuses to let them in because many have criminal backgrounds, trapping them for nearly two months.
On Sunday night, July 20, they mounted a protest, expressing their torment and their need for help. One detainee stated, 'We're not allowed outside! We're being tortured here,' highlighting the dire conditions faced by the group.
