North Korea is to become an active participant in Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine and a unit of troops is set to head to the Donetsk region next month.
On 19 June Putin and Jong Un signed a defence pact stating mutual military assistance in case of armed invasion, raising concerns of North Korean involvement in Ukraine.
A former Russian MP indicated North Korea's role as a strategic partner bridging China and Russia, with China using North Korea to avoid US sanctions in military assistance.
