Ukraine has announced that it will allocate an additional $60 million per month to its armed forces for direct drone procurement. This funding, totaling UAH 2.5 billion, empowers military combat units to buy necessary drones independently, minimizing reliance on centralized acquisitions. This initiative builds on prior allocations and is aimed at enhancing flexibility and responsiveness at the front lines. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized the importance of providing commanders the autonomy to select the most effective drones for their operations.
We have analyzed this experience and decided to scale up the initiative.
This marks another step towards building a highly flexible system to ensure the military has everything necessary for Ukraine's defense.
