"This encourages us to create our own air defense system, which would be not just an air defense system, but also an anti-missile system," Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi explained, highlighting the urgency to enhance Ukraine's defense capacity against advanced missile threats.
"The work is underway, it is being actively pursued in this direction," Syrskyi emphasized, showcasing Ukraine's commitment to developing an effective homegrown air defense solution amid ongoing military challenges.
"Back in Soviet times, we actually produced all the control systems for anti-aircraft systems," Syrskyi noted, pointing out Ukraine's historical expertise in missile defense technology that can be leveraged for current needs.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that in 2024, 30% of Ukraine's military gear was domestically produced, reflecting a significant shift towards self-reliance in defense capabilities.
