"This is one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow using drones of all time. We continue to monitor the situation," wrote Moscow's mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
"The air defence forces of the Ministry of Defence shot down 10 units this night," he wrote on his Telegram channel, highlighting the scale of the attack.
The Kremlin confirmed they shot down 45 Ukrainian attack drones over the city, an event that will further anger Vladimir Putin and cause embarrassment.
