The UK has announced sanctions on 10 ships integral to Russia's shadow fleet, which plays a crucial role in exporting oil to fund the war in Ukraine.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated, 'Putin's war machine is funded by a dark and illicit economic system that this government is committed to destabilising.'
These ships, described as high-volume offenders, will be barred from UK's ports, and their operations aimed at continuing Russian oil exports are under increased scrutiny.
The large shadow fleet has become a significant loophole in efforts to curb Russia’s oil revenue, which is vital for the Kremlin's military actions.
