During a press conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the ongoing efforts for a minerals sharing agreement with the U.S. He emphasized that any such agreement necessitates strong Western security guarantees, warning that without them, ceasefires will prove ineffective. While expressing his willingness to be flexible regarding security arrangements, Zelenskyy raised concerns about the future of American military aid. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring that potential deals do not create financial burdens resulting from past military support, illustrating the complexities of Ukraine's negotiations.
Without future security guarantees, we will not have a real ceasefire. And if we don't have it nothing will work. Nothing will work.
It is very difficult really. I understand President Trump wants to do it quickly. But this is not dialogue with somebody.
The most important is to end the war yesterday. We need to focus to get peace without any possibility to get back to the war.
Any minerals deal cannot put Ukraine in debt for previous wartime American grants. That would open a Pandora's box.
