Spring brings more Russian advances as Putin rejects a ceasefire in Ukraine
Briefly

In the wake of stalled truce negotiations, Russian forces are intensifying their military operations in Ukraine, especially in the southern regions. Following a series of recent developments, including the capture of Stepove, Ukrainian spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn noted a shift in tactics, with improved weather enhancing Russian maneuverability. This situation comes as Ukraine is dealing with challenges in Kursk, where Russian troops have recaptured significant territory. Putin's refusal to agree to a full ceasefire indicates ongoing unrest, as Russia aims to create a buffer zone in Ukraine to solidify its territorial claims.
"We will have to move along longer routes. This brings about positive changes for us on the Zaporizhia front as a whole," Vladimir Rogov told TASS.
"The mud has disappeared, there is more vegetation, and there is less visibility. Therefore, the enemy is trying to improve its tactical position," said Vladyslav Voloshyn.
"Not only will we have liberated our own land, but we will also establish the buffer zone that [Putin] has tasked us with creating," Apty Alaudinov told Rossiya-1.
"There were issues that needed ironing out," as Putin rejected a complete ceasefire, highlighting ongoing tensions and complications in negotiations.
