China and Russia continue to strengthen their strategic partnership amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. During a visit to Moscow, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi articulated their mutual commitment to being 'friends forever, never enemies.' This visit comes against a backdrop of renewed ties between Washington and Moscow. Wang expressed China's readiness to aid in resolving the conflict in Ukraine while also asserting support for Russia. Putin conveyed satisfaction over the developing relationship, underscoring their joint interests in global affairs, including a planned visit by Xi Jinping to Moscow in May.
The principle of 'friends forever, never enemies' serves as a solid legal basis for advancing strategic cooperation at a higher level, said Wang Yi.
China is ready to play a constructive role in ending the conflict in Ukraine, but will back Russia to defend its interests, Wang stated.
