Russia-Ukraine war live: UK troops could be sent to Ukraine to train its soldiers, defence secretary suggests

John Healey has emphasized the importance of tailoring training programs to meet the specific needs of Ukrainian soldiers fighting against Russia, suggesting UK troops may eventually be sent for that purpose.

Healey stated: "We [need to] make it easier for the Ukrainians to access and we [need to] work with the Ukrainians to help them motivate and mobilise more recruits," highlighting the UK's commitment to support Ukrainian forces.

Currently, Britain is engaged in training Ukrainian soldiers on its own soil, but there are considerations about expanding this support directly into Ukraine as part of broader strategic military assistance.

While providing significant military aid, including weaponry, the UK has refrained from deploying ground troops to Ukraine to avoid direct escalation of the conflict.
