Russia and Ukraine to exchange more children after Qatar-brokered deal
Briefly

Russian Commissioner for Children Maria Lvova-Belova announced on Thursday the return of nine children to their families in Ukraine and Russia as part of ongoing humanitarian exchanges. Seven children from Russia will be reunited with relatives in Ukraine; they aged between six and sixteen and had diverse custodial situations including living with grandparents and even one in an orphanage. Meanwhile, two boys, aged seven and nine, will be returned to Russia after residing in Ukraine with their parent for years.
Qatar has played a pivotal role in mediating the return of these children, reflecting its commitment to conflict resolution through peaceful means. The country previously facilitated the return of 22 children earlier this year. This latest exchange underscores Qatar's active participation in humanitarian efforts amid ongoing international tensions related to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, showcasing a dedication to uphold international law principles.
