Iran and Armenia simulate border threats in joint military drills
Briefly

Iran and Armenia engaged in two days of joint military drills along their 44-kilometre border, featuring elite forces from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The drills, overseen by General Valiollah Madani, included light and heavy weaponry simulations aimed at countering terrorist threats on border checkpoints. Despite Armenia's efforts to strengthen ties with the West, it continues to foster strong relations with Iran amid regional tensions, particularly regarding its borders with Azerbaijan and Turkey, which have been closed for decades. Recently, Azerbaijan and Armenia made progress towards a peace treaty concerning Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The exercise was conducted to consolidate the security of the borders based on the shared interests of the two countries," according to Iranian state media.
Armenia's Ministry of Defence stated that the exercises were related to attacks by simulated terrorist groups on border crossings.
