Azerbaijan and Armenia have made significant strides toward finalizing a peace agreement to end long-standing hostilities rooted in decades of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Both nations confirmed the completion of negotiations on the treaty and expressed a desire to set a date for formal signing. However, Azerbaijan's insistence on constitutional changes in Armenia complicates the timeline for agreement, as such changes are tied to the perception of territorial claims. The historical context of the conflict, including ethnic tensions and past wars, underscores the importance of this peace effort as both sides approach a potential resolution.
The Republic of Armenia is ready to start consultations with the Republic of Azerbaijan on the date and place of signing the agreement.
We note with satisfaction that the negotiations on the text of the draft Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have been concluded.
