A German drone manufacturer backed by Peter Thiel says it will double its production capacity in Ukraine in 2025
Briefly

German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has announced its intention to double production capacity in Ukraine by 2025, reflecting its commitment to support the country amid ongoing conflict with Russia. The company, which has been supplying various drone systems since the invasion, already operates two facilities in Ukraine and has received significant finance from notable investors, including Peter Thiel. Key products include the Vector reconnaissance drone and the Trinity range, which are utilized for surveillance, mapping, and environmental assessments, enhancing Ukraine's technological capabilities during the war.
In a press release on Friday, the Peter Thiel-backed startup said the planned expansion reflected its "unwavering commitment" to ensure Kyiv gets the technology it needs amid its ongoing war with Russia.
Quantum's Vector drone is primarily used for target identification and surveillance. It can fly for up to 180 minutes, allows for real-time video streaming over a range of 35 kilometers.
These drones can cover an area of 700 hectares in one flight and can fly for 90 minutes, Quantum says, and can be deployed for environmental and battle damage assessments.
Founded in 2015, Quantum has raised more than $200 million, with investor backing from billionaire Peter Thiel, emphasizing the company's substantial support for its initiatives.
