Pelgrim expressed that on the day of the time trial, it’s hard to estimate Evenepoel's performance because ‘it also depends on his form on the day’ and the competition.
Despite jokes about his rival, Pelgrim recognized Tadej Pogačar's speed, stating, 'We know that Tadej Pogacar will be a very tough customer' on the challenging course.
On Evenepoel's preparation, Pelgrim emphasized, 'there is not much more you can do than prepare yourself as well as possible to be able to ride as hard as possible'.
Pelgrim noted that this time trial will gauge Evenepoel’s potential, saying, 'We will get an indication on Sunday in the time trial what that is worth across the board.'
