Chris Connolly, a Dubliner, shares his journey of overcoming addiction through running. He is currently raising funds by completing 11 ultra marathons in 11 consecutive days, which involves running over 50 kilometers daily. His efforts are aimed at supporting a seven-year-old boy needing treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Connolly emphasizes the mental and physical challenges of the runs and believes in the importance of creating running clubs that provide safe spaces for others facing similar battles.
"It's mad on the head, what it does to you. It's like mental warfare," he says of the challenge. "Tough is an understatement. It was brutal. Every single day running over 50 kilometres. I just showed up and gave my best."
Chris Connolly's journey reflects the profound impact of running as a transformative tool for overcoming personal struggles and fostering community support.
