King's Plate horse race runs Friday in Etobicoke after last weekend's rainout | CBC News
Briefly

North America's oldest continually run horse stakes race, the King's Plate, is back after being postponed due to unsafe conditions at Woodbine Racetrack.
The King's Plate, with a $1 million purse, serves as the first leg of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown, featuring 13 competitors this year.
Woodbine Entertainment declared grandstand entry free for patrons following last week's rainout, with access on a first-come-first-served basis, despite ticket transfers not being valid.
Initially named the Queen's Plate, this race dates back to 1860 when the Toronto Turf Club sought Queen Victoria's permission to establish it in Ontario.
