Jeff DaRosa, a multi-instrumentalist for Dropkick Murphys, turned to running after getting sober at 40. He found running to be a disciplined and attainable pursuit, contrasting his previous life of relentless touring. Initially participating in casual races, the idea of running the Boston Marathon became a distant dream after the 2013 bombings. However, after quitting drinking, he embraced running as a way to regain control over his life and prepare for the iconic race in support of the Claddagh Fund.
