Clare Cathaoirleach to lead 'Mind Over Miles' 160km charity cycle
A 160km charity cycle called “Mind over Miles” will take place on Saturday, June 6, starting at Loop Head at 8am. The route will travel through multiple towns and scenic areas across Clare, including Kilrush, Kildysart, Clarecastle, Quin, Tulla, Feakle, Scarriff, Mountshannon, and Whitegate, before reaching the Galway border at Garryeighter. Cyclists will pass the Cathaoirleach’s Clarecastle home base and continue through East Clare. The event is organized by Paul Murphy and friends, building on earlier winter “When it Doubt, Pedal it Out” cycles that raised money for mental health services. Murphy describes cycling as a way to clear the head and find solutions to challenges.
"“This upcoming cycle in early June has a similar theme, it's 'Mind Over Miles',” Cllr Murphy said. “I am a pretty keen cyclist. I took it up as a pastime. I don't train seriously, but I find it is a great form of exercise, it's also something I enjoy. When I get out there on the bike it clears your head. It's a fantastic way of clearing your brain.”"
"“If there are things you are finding challenging, be it from a council point of view or a personal point of view, anything which is bothering you or is a challenge I find that when I'm on the bike it blows it through your brain and you can come up with solutions. It's absolutely fantastic.”"
"“The 100-mile route takes in Kilrush, Kildysart, Clarecastle, Quin, Tulla, Feakle, Scarriff, Mountshannon, and Whitegate, while enjoying some breathtaking Clare scenery, including the Loop Head Peninsula, Doonaha, and sections of the Wild Atlantic Way.”"
"“The cyclists will pass through the Cathaoirleach's Clarecastle home base and make their way out to East Clare, through Quin, Tulla, Feakle and on to Scarriff, Mountshannon and Whitegate - before reaching the Galway border at Garryeighter.”"
