American Cole Hocker pulled the upset of the Olympics, setting an Olympic record time of 3 minutes 27.65 seconds to win the 1,500 meters, beating Ingebrigsten and Kerr.

Hocker, considered a 30-1 long shot, surged from fifth to first in the final 300 meters, leaving Kerr behind by 0.14 seconds, with Ingebrigsten finishing fourth behind Yared Nuguse.

This victory marked the first U.S. win in the metric mile since 2016 and the first time Americans secured two men on the 1,500-meter podium since 1912, breaking the domination of Ingebrigsten and Kerr's rivalry.
