Bates highlighted her experience during the race, mentioning leading from the gun, surging with the pack, and feeling the swift pace eventually affecting her around mile 21 at Heartbreak Hill.
Reflecting on her performance, Bates acknowledged her lack of leg strength due to the fall injury but expressed satisfaction in pushing for it during the race.
Although currently residing in Boulder, Colo., Bates has lived in Boston in the past and trained on the challenging course, familiarizing herself with its hilly terrain.
