Trump Addresses Jesus Post Backlash With More Bad Jesus Art
"The simplest answer is to apologize, then stop doing the thing that got everyone so upset. Obviously, Donald Trump can't do the first part. Being an extremely powerful world-class narcissist means never having to say you're sorry."
"Trump deleted the image many Christians found offensive, which depicted him as Jesus healing a sick man. Then the president tried to cover by telling reporters, 'I thought it was me as a doctor,' not Jesus."
"Trump's new defense included a nonsensical shot at Barack Obama. Editors depicting a leader with religious imagery to make a point, without their consent, is a tad different from a politician suggesting they are Jesus."
"Trump probably would have been better off if he'd just steered clear of all religion-related topics for a few days. None of these arguments make much sense, and surely it won't be long before some new controversy arises."
When offending many people, the appropriate response is to apologize and stop the offending behavior. Donald Trump, however, struggles with this. After offending some MAGA Christians with a blasphemous image of himself as Jesus, he deleted the post but offered a dubious excuse. He then attempted to regain support by sharing more controversial Christian art. Trump's responses included nonsensical attacks on Pope Leo and a vague criticism of the pope's stance on racism and immigration. His continued engagement in religious topics may lead to further controversy.
