President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador gained considerable attention in American conservative circles after agreeing to accept 261 deportees airlifted from the U.S. despite possible legal issues. Bukele showcased his support on social media, sharing endorsements from several prominent conservative figures. Accompanied by a professionally produced video, the dramatic arrival of deportees was highlighted, revealing the harsh conditions awaiting them in the maximum-security prison, CECOT, where they face long hours of confinement in degrading conditions.
When Judge James Boasberg ordered the flights carrying the deportees to return home, Bukele posted, "Oopsie ... Too late," followed by the "tears of joy" emoji.
Once inside, it becomes apparent how brutal the conditions will be. The new prisoners are forced to kneel inside a massive processing hangar, then ordered to shout their names for the camera.
